Varicose vein treatment in Brazil
A step-by-step guide for patients coming from abroad: what happens before you travel, what happens in Brazil, what it costs and what happens after you go back home.
The information on this page is educational and does not replace an individual medical assessment. Every plan is defined after the consultation and the Doppler examination.
Why treat varicose veins in Brazil?
A long-established clinic
Founded in 1994 in São Bernardo do Campo, in the Greater São Paulo area, with a team of 12 specialists led by Dr. Robson Barbosa de Miranda (CRM-SP 64375).
Full diagnostic chain in one place
Clinical examination, colour Doppler ultrasound, vascular ultrasound and telemedicine follow-up — all performed by the same team.
Minimally invasive options
Endolaser, radiofrequency, sclerotherapy and ambulatory surgery are available, with fast recovery and small incisions.
Costs below private treatment abroad
Brazil is a reference for high-quality private medicine with costs that are usually a fraction of private treatment in Europe or the United States.
The complete process
From the first message to the last follow-up, this is what happens and when.
-
You write to us
Send a message on WhatsApp with your symptoms, how long they have been going on and any test you already have. An English-speaking member of our team replies and explains the next step.
-
Telemedicine consultation
A vascular specialist reviews your case by video. The goal is to establish whether treatment is appropriate for you — and whether you need to travel at all. You can also use telemedicine for a second opinion.
-
Pre-operative tests
The team confirms which tests you need. Depending on the case, they can be done in your country and sent in advance, or done here on the day of the consultation.
-
Consultation and Doppler in Brazil
In person at the clinic: clinical examination and colour Doppler ultrasound. This is the moment where the indication for treatment is confirmed.
-
Written plan and estimate
You receive a written plan: the technique recommended for your case, where the procedure will be performed (clinic or hospital), the expected stay and the estimated cost with everything that is included.
-
Travel and treatment
You come to São Bernardo do Campo. The procedure is performed at the clinic or in a hospital, depending on the case, under the anaesthetic that the anaesthetist indicates for you.
-
Recovery and follow-up
Rest, movement and home care following the pre-operative guide, then a follow-up appointment 5 to 10 days after discharge — by video whenever possible.
Clinic or hospital?
The decision is made by the surgeon after the Doppler examination, and it is written in your plan.
✓ Can be done at the clinic
- Sclerotherapy
- Small ambulatory procedures under local anaesthesia
- Clinical assessment, Doppler and vascular ultrasound
- Telemedicine follow-up
✗ Performed in hospital
- Cases requiring spinal or general anaesthesia
- Endovascular techniques with sedation
- Cases requiring an overnight stay
- Cases requiring a longer monitored recovery
What it costs
We do not publish a price list. The cost of varicose vein treatment depends on the Doppler findings, the extent of the problem, the technique chosen and where the procedure is performed.
This is why we ask you not to travel before the evaluation: after the consultation and the Doppler examination, you receive a written estimate with everything that is included, so that you can decide with the numbers in front of you.
No treatment is promised before it is evaluated, and no result is guaranteed.

Frequently asked questions
How much does varicose vein treatment cost in Brazil?
We do not publish a price list, because the cost depends on the Doppler findings, the extent of the problem and the technique chosen for your case. After the consultation and the Doppler examination you receive a written estimate, in writing, with everything that is included. We also do not promise any result before evaluating you.
Do I need to travel to Brazil before I know whether I need surgery?
Usually not. The first step is a telemedicine consultation, in which a vascular specialist reviews your symptoms and any test you already have. Only after that, and after the Doppler examination, do we confirm whether travelling is worthwhile.
Will the surgery be done at the clinic or in a hospital?
It depends on your case, and the decision is made by the surgeon after the Doppler examination. Simpler procedures, such as sclerotherapy and small ambulatory procedures under local anaesthesia, can be performed at the clinic. Cases that require spinal or general anaesthesia, an operating room or an overnight stay are performed in hospital. The exact place is confirmed in your written plan.
How long do I need to stay in Brazil?
It depends on the technique. After the procedure there is usually a period of rest and a follow-up appointment between 5 and 10 days after discharge, which may be done by telemedicine depending on your case. The exact number of days is confirmed in your written plan, together with the date of your follow-up.
What documents do I need?
Your passport (the same document you use to enter Brazil), the pre-operative tests requested by the surgeon, and the signed consent forms. Before you travel, the team confirms which tests you can do in your country and send in advance, and which need to be done here.
What about the visa and the flight?
Entry requirements in Brazil depend on your nationality. Our team can send you the information you need, but the visa and the travel costs are the patient’s responsibility.
Do you help with accommodation and airport transfer?
Ask us. Our team shares the options it knows about for hotels near the clinic and for transfers from Guarulhos (GRU) or Congonhas (CGH), so that you can plan with the information in hand.
What if there is a complication?
The team is reachable on WhatsApp and by phone during business hours, and the follow-up is done by video whenever possible. The pre-operative guide lists the warning signs that require immediate attention and where to go outside business hours.
Can my companion come with me?
Yes. Tell us in advance so that we can prepare the admission accordingly.
